For the past close to 20 years our event weekend took place at Sand Point Beach, but not this year. This year we had to move our race site on very short notice to Tecumseh. I must thank Windsor for the great support that they have given us over the years in helping us grow our event. While we have same improvements to make for next year’s event if we indeed remain in Tecumseh, the town receives a big thank you for the great job they did in helping make this happen on such short notice. This year’s event had 500 people participating which makes this the largest we have ever hosted. Regarding the site and your comments, it seems to be that people liked the lay out and with a few changes it should be even better experience for next year’s event. We had one of our most competitive men’s elite race ever. Our two time champion Wolfgang Gumbel commented on how he loved the close finish even though he finished third. On the women’s side Tereza Macel won for the sixth time and that win was squeezed in between her wins at Ironman Lake Placid and Ironman Canada. A special thanks goes out to Tereza Macel and her husband as they volunteered their time to help out in all the rain at the Kids of Steel races the day before her Sunday race.

I would like to add that we added www.apsiphoto.com this year as our official photographer and you can still go to our web site and order pictures that they took throughout our event weekend. We hope to see a great turn out next year as this is a very important fundraiser for The Hospice of Windsor. This year’s event $32,000 were raised for The Hospice of Windsor and Essex County Inc. making the total monies raised over $480,000 throughout the years and they are very appreciative of everyone’s support.
